The moon is out. The stars are in the sky. There is a cool night air. Fog rolls into the streets. Shady figures fill the streets of Gotham. Just like every night, the criminals look into the sky to see the signal, to see if he has been called. Currently there is no bat-signal.
Batman is crouched on a rooftop ledge. He leans over the edge. There are gangster in the alleyway below. They do not see him, yet. He does not make himself visible to them. Then a car drives by the alley. It slows down. The window slides down. Items exchange hands. The gangster looks happier. The car pulls away.
Batman's intel tells him the item is more valuable then the gangsters in the car. He moves down the side of the building. His foot slips. Debree falls into of the gangsters. They look up, see him and take off. He jumps off the building and starts to chase them.

The gangsters strain their muscles fleeing from the terror of Gotham's underworld that is the Dark Knight. They race round a corner in the vain hope of escape when wind roars and they are met by a blur of primary colors.
The frightened criminals do not have a chance to register this new threat before they are tossed bodily into the air, nearly simultaneously. Their bodies slam against the wall of a nearby building hard enough to shake bits of plaster free and, as one, they slump to the ground unconscious.
Kara Zor-El, Supergirl, hovers momentarily as she observes her handiwork. Then, gold-trimmed crimson cloak fluttering in the night breeze, she turns her attention towards the shadows from which a pair of ivory eyes glare.
Batman doesn't like it when other heroes come into his city unanounced. Shes also fairly certain that he still doesn't particularly like her. It is rather high up on the seemingly endless list of things which frustrate Kara these days; Batman's acceptance is important to her because of how much Kal respects him.
And hadn't she proven now that she was who she claimed to be beyond the shadow of a doubt? Hadn't all her earlier confusion been explained by her father? Hadn't she worked in tandem successfully with Robin on more than one occasion, as opposed to in the beginning when she refused to take any orders from him? Wasn't she still here, fighting the good fight, despite the media and government turning against her and having her mother and home on New Krypton? Besides, she'd just helped him apprehend a group of wrong doers.
And she needed his help. Her search into Lucy Lane's activities on New Krypton had been practically fruitless. Sure, Tim had shown her a few of the tricks of the investigative trade but... well, this was a covert government operation; she needed the world's greatest detective.
Who incidentally was still glaring. No biggie right? He glared at everyone all the time! Right? Kara gave a forced grin and waved at the shadows from which he peered.
"Hey Batman..." no point in small talk, he wouldn't appreciate it, "can we talk?"

," she began. How exactly she stumbled across the duo was best chalked up to her outstanding abilities, it didn't take a lot to realize the emotional signals Batman had locked deep inside of him; Wonder Woman was empathic. He was practically a homing beacon for Diana, but she'd never admit that to the Dark Knight, not if she valued her life. " But I cannot believe my eyes, someone else in the Batman's domain?" Diplomacy could wait, this was practically golden.[/ul]

Batman watched as Supergirl pummeled the gangster. He could have easily rushed over and helped, but there was no reason to over exert himself. Her words "can we talk", they never bring good news. Just as he was reluctantly about to say yes, Wonder Woman drops in.
'How is it even possible she found us? Unless she was follow Supergirl or working with her," he thinks. Then Wonder Woman starts to speak. "someone else in Batman's domain?" she said.
Batman turns his head and his eyes over to her as she speaks. "Now you make two. Two heroes in my district, without my permission or my notification. Doesn't the League have task for you on other planets?" His last comment was meant for for Supergirl. At least Wonder Woman is a founder in the League. As for Supergirl, she always seems like she needed to be saved. "Diana, I presume you are in Gotham on business, but not business with the Leauge. So I suppose you can remain in Gotham." Batman says with a scowl. He turns to Supergirl. He looks angrier. "What do you need Kara?"

Diana's appearance had a dual effect. On the one hand, the amazon's presence was somewhat reassuring. On the other hand, the level of scorn Batman still had for her was all the more pronounced in comparison to the respect he managed to show for Wonder Woman. Kara exerted quite an effort to avoid grinding her teeth.
"I'm not really that active of a member of the League these days what with other concerns... and I know, I know, and I'm sorry," okay, she wasn't but why should she have to be? "But I'm here about your people being in my territory. I haven't been able to track down any good leads on the Superwoman Project on New Krypton. I was hoping you had some information, or at least had some contacts in your government that could be squeezed for some."
It was bald faced, but she really did honestly think that he would only be more condescending of her for attempting to use tact. After all, its not like he ever did! Belatedly, Kara turned and managed to relax enough to smile at the princess of Themyscira.
"Hey Diana!" her friendly tones were sincere, as Paradise Island had been a home and sanctuary for her when Earth was still very new and confusing. Also, Wonder Woman was second only to Kal in the mentors she had trained under on this planet.

," she snapped. A little harsher than intended, but it was to be expected. " There is no need to be acting like children, we're all doing our best here. This includes Kara, too, Bruce." There, that should put an end to that. But just in case. " We all know Gotham is yours, but if another hero happens to be in the area, they obviously have a good reason. Now Supergirl, what is it you were speaking of?," she asked, showing genuine interest in the Kryptonian's earlier remarks.[/ul]

Diana was right, he acted childish. There is no reason he should feel animosity toward Supergirl. Now that the case with the gangster has been solved, he could help her. He had heard about this Superwoman project, but the affairs of New Krypton do not matter much to him. Gotham still needs protecting, and that is what he cared most about.
"Diana is right, I'm sure probably have used all other leads before coming to me. Now what exactly do you want me to do?" he asked, after Diana finished. He still had an angry tone, but that was because he is Batman.

With a somewhat abashed glance in Diana's direction, Kara subjugated her roiling emotions. Ceasing her levitation, she touched down in the trash-laden alleyway. They were all on the same side here... right? And it was kinda her job to keep it that way.
"Sorry, Kara sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, brushing back the bangs, "but tensions are running high. I honestly don't know exactly what it is you can do. If I did, I wouldn't bother you with this; I'd do it myself."
Gesturing vaguely at nothing in particular, Kara gave a frustrated grimace. That might have come off as offensive, but she hadn't meant it that way. Being political was still rather new to her.
"Look, its like this; the trail ran cold on New Krypton," she sighed, "and my acceptance on this planet is too tenuous for me to investigate Earth's governments. But you..."
What? You don't need to be accepted? You always play by your own rules anyway? So maybe she was taking a few things for granted, but it was mostly true and she had rather exhausted her other options. She was trying to avoid escelating the conflict, and despite the Bat's many other qualities, he could be quite discreet and covert when the need arose.

," she asked. Diana was new in comparison to the others there, but she did her job. The League had always been there for her, for others. Why wouldn't they be there for Kara as well? " ... Or is that not yet an option?" Certainly it was a viable option, but the League did have it's moments. Diana remembered them all, despite their reasons, and how annoying they were with the red tape and such. Thankfully Superman usually came around to her side, it did pay to have feminine wiles. " Bruce," she called. " You are the most informed of us all, so much so we'd be afraid if you ever left the side of justice. I think what Supergirl is asking here isn't too much."[/ul]

"You're right Diana, it is not too much. I'll investigate the government on this Superwoman Project. I doubt there is much. Earth has its own problems," Batman said, as nice as he possible could, but it still sounded mean.
"The League can help you look on New Krypton while I search here," Batman ordered. "What was the last thing you learned, other then learning the project is on Earth? Batman questioned. He needed to know where to start his in the big government.
