It is just another day for Bruce Wayne. Business meetings in the mornings, lunches with clients in the afternoons, and training at night before his patrol. Days are exhausting but that is the life of Batman. Never stopping for a moment to rest, always training, always making himself better. Always making sure he would be able to defeat any villain.
Today he decided to train in the Watchtower. Maybe he might spare with another hero. But he just wants to get in a good work out before he starts crime fighting tonight. He entered the gym and walked over to the sparing mats. He took off his utility belt, he would not need it and it slows him down. He stretched out his arms, then his legs. He is ready. He jumped on the mat and started shadow boxing.

," came a voice some ways behind Batman, " it probably wouldn't hurt to take a break every now and then." For as long as Diana could remember, Bruce Wayne always went to the extremes with whatever he did, be it in his personal or hero life, there was no halfway or time off, only wasted time. " You work hard, harder than anyone else I know.," she nodded, while finding it difficult to fathom Batman being human. Surrounded by beings from other planets and dimensions, those who could fly, lift trains, and blast villains with their optic blasts, it seemed so out of the ordinary for the Dark Knight to be among them. But Diana would not complain, she admired, no, respected his contributions to the team and embraced his significance to the Justice League. " Always striving to be the best, huh?"[/ul]

Her voice struck him. He stopped working out. Walking over to her, he grabbed a towel and water.
"There is always room to improve. No all of us were given a special ring, super-powers, or had a freak accident. Some of us had to work hard to get here," he replied with a cold chill in his voice. He was not envious of their powers, he did not care how much they trained or did not train, he just liked reminding them, the superpowered, that regular people can be just as powerful, if necessary.
"I have to work harder then everyone else. Besides, if I don't work, who will the Flash?" he said cracking a smile. Just for a moment he relaxed. He could not let his guard down even for a moment. "Death waits for us out there, when we fight crime. We must always be ready, ...for anything," he commented.

he called out as he entered the room. Stopping beside Diana, he crossed his arms across his chest, and smiled brightly at his friend. Sure Bruce was dark and brooding, but he was right. As heroes they did to always have to be ready for anything. He himself was guilty, probably more so than any of his teammates, of going into a situation unprepared. He lost count how many times Metallo or Luthor had caught him off guard and it had almost cost him his life. Luckily his friends had been there to help him. “What are you two doing here anyway? I thought I was suppose to be relieving J’onn tonight? Or did Wally give me the wrong shift changes again? He had hoped Wally had given him the right schedule. He had skipped out on having dinner with Lois to take his shift here at the Watchtower. Wally had said it wouldn’t happen again, but Wally was Wally.[/ul]

"No, Clark you are the in the right place. I have Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl patroling Gotham for me tonight. I want to see how they can handle the city. Besides I thought it would be a good idea to spend some time in the Watchtower with other Justice League members," Batman replied.
The Watchtower was like a batcave in space, except the Justice League was there. But they did not bother Batman. He enjoyed their company. As much as he broods being part of the JLA is something he really likes.

he said with a small laugh. “Since here though there is something I wanted to talk to you about. I stopped a bank robbery today and the robbers were dressed up like clowns and claimed to be working for the Penguin. I was wondering if you had information on his whereabouts or actions lately? I know you said he has claimed to give up petty crimes and specialize in information brokering, but if he is back to his old tricks, and in Metropolis, any information you have would be helpful Bruce.” He doubted that the thugs were serious in saying they worked for Penguin, but one could never be so sure. He had seen it plenty of times before where reformed criminals returned to their illegal habits, and Penguin never really stopped his illegal habits which worried him. Although if Penguin was back to being a hazard, why pick Metropolis. And if the thugs were lying, why say they were working for Penguin? It was all rather annoying, but either way the truth would reveal itself. It always did.[/ul]

Clowns working for the Penguin. This was clearly a sign to either throw him off the Joker or either the Joker wants him to investigate Penguin. Never the less, the answers weren't on the Watch tower. He'd have to to some ground work. But the labs up here are just as equal, if not better, then his in the Batcave. "Um...Clark. That sounds very odd. Clowns and birds don't mix. Penguin claims he is clean, but really how clean is a man from Gotham? Robbing banks in your district, seems very sloppy" Batman was puzzled by this. They would have to work together to solve this mystery.

he said as he walked over to one of the punching bags. “They could have just been lying to save themselves from some jail time. Wouldn’t be first time a group of thugs have copied a big villain’s gimmick and used it to get time off.” Letting out a sigh of frustration, he gave the punching bag a light punch and watched it fly across the massive room. Looking rather embarrassed, he looked at Bruce, and chuckled. It seemed that J’onn hadn’t gotten a chance to reinforce all of the gym equipment yet so it seemed that Clark would spend his time in his Fortress if he needed to train. Using his super-speed, Clark rushed over to the bag, and reattached it to where it belonged. “Guess J’onn forgot this one,” he said still grinning.[/ul]

"I guess so. Or you've become stronger," Bruce said curiously. Superman's powers are already been anything on this planet and almost any other planet. If Clark was actually getting stronger, things could wrong. It is not like J'onn to forget the punching bags.
"You raised a good point earlier. The thugs might intentionally be misleading us. We still need to investigate this case. It does not seem as clear as you first described. The bank heist, clowns claiming to be part of Penguin's flock. Who benefits? Who benefits?" Bruce questioned. Motive is the greatest factor to crimes. If he could deduce the cause he could solve the case.

," she said, already forgetting her self-made promise not to speak up. Oh well, it couldn't be helped, and damned would either of the two guys be if they cut her off. " This incident you speak of Clark, it may not have a purpose to it. Sure free money is always nice to the common criminal, but the likes of Penguin and Joker... I don't know, this has to be a ruse of some sort. They wouldn't waste time on petty crimes, not when they're competing to bring you down, Bruce. What glory would a bank heist bring?" And there it was. Why would Joker or Penguin resort to robbing banks? It didn't make sense, those two would want to commit a crime so heinous and large, it'd break Batman and give them the credit throughout all of Gotham's underworld that they were the man... or woman. " Best thing to do is to check the usual places, get any information on those two, and see if any of it can be pieced into a much grander puzzle."[/ul]
