Edward is fascinated with puzzles and mind games. Over the years, he has started to live his life in this way. Always wanting to show that he is smart and always staying a few steps ahead of his opponents.
He always seems to tell the truth about what he is up to. He is quite a smooth-talker, sometimes getting himself out of a tight spot. As Edward, he is calm and smart. If he is ever just sitting around, it may not look like he's not doing anything, when he is really thinking up his next move. His mind never seems to stop going and sometime he don't know when to stop when he is ahead.
As the Riddler, he tries to out do his opponent by staying ahead of them and always wanting to challenge them to find their weaknesses. Even if Riddler has the underhand, he does not take the opportunity to strike, he likes to see if his opponent can figure out his riddles whether it means life or death. It is almost all a game to the Riddler. He is always looking for a new challenge to push his limits on how crafty and smart he can be. And he is unable to hide his true motives.

As time went on, he was seen as more of a villain to Batman. His constantly tested people's abilities to the limits. He got more fun watching people try to solve his riddles and enjoyed the failure of some and the challenge others face. The Riddler continued to commit crimes, leave some easy clues for fun. And if he really wanted to have some fun, he'd make them more challenging. Riddler always enjoyed the games he played against the Batman. And at time, his games could be used again other villains much like himself.
Sample RP (two paragraphs or more of you doing something):
"The City of Gotham, sitting quietly under the stars, and it the right time to commit a crime," the Riddler laughs as he walks along an alley way.
The Riddler looks around in the darkness of the night, it was the perfect time to strike. No one knew he was around to make his next move. The Museum of Natural History was his next target in the Riddler's twisted mind of games. Making his way up the side steps of the building, he takes the end of his cane and placed it over top of the lock on the side door. The Riddler then flips the top of the question mark on the end of the cane and presses a button, unlocking the door. He smirks with pleasure at how well his inventing has worked.
The Riddler made his way down the hallways of the museum in the darkness, not making a sound, even as he walked. Then the Riddler came to what he was looking for, an old Egyptian artifact, new to the museum. The Riddler had had his eye on it for some time since he knew about its arrival to the museum.
Walking over to the artifact, the Riddler set his cane against the glass as he got closer. Not a single alarm going off yet, as he made his move and took the artifact out of the display. The Riddler dropped an envelope near the stand. That would be the first of many other riddles he would leave. "Easy, as usual," the Riddler smirked to himself.
As he walked down the hall a few flashlights shined his way. "Freeze," one of the guards said as he pulled a gun out. The other guard doing the same.
"Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you," the Riddler said as he throws a small ball in there direction. Both the guards took a few steps back as it rolls toward them. "What goes forward but never back," the Riddler spoke up.
Both the guards looked at each other thinking about the answer.
"The answer is Time and your time is about up," the Riddler laughs as he turns and runs down the hall.
Both the guards yelled as they took off in the other direction from the ball just before it explodes. The two guards ran out as fast as they could, radioing in the police.
The Riddler walked out the back door and to the alley, his car sitting ready to leave. "Another crime, perfectly committed. Now to wait for the real fun to begin," the Riddler said to himself as he sped out of the alley way, the artifact sitting in the seat next to him. As the Riddler drove off, he saw the Bat signal in sky.
